Dickite is an aluminium silicate hydroxide clay mineral belonging to the kaolin group.
It is a rare polymorph of kaolinite, nacrite and halloysite, meaning it shares the exact same chemical composition but features a distinct crystal structure.
It belongs to the monoclinic Crystal system and the mineral class is phyllosilicate (often categorised under silicates).
It forms in hydrothermal veins from low temperature alteration of aluminous minerals like feldspars, and as an authentic mineral in sedimentary deposits including sandstones, mudstones and shales.
Dickite is a soft mineral measuring 2.0-2.5 on the MOHs scale.
