Green tourmaline:
Crystal system- trigonal
Mineral class- silicate specifically a cyclosilicate
Rock formation-
Green tourmaline primarily forms in two main geological environments where boron and trace elements like lithium and vanadium are concentrated.
Pegmatites: the most common source for gem quality green tourmaline primarily forms. These are coarse grained igneous rocks that form during the final stages of magma crystallization allowing large well formed crystals to develop.
Metamorphic rocks: it can also form in metamorphic environments such as schists and marble, that have been altered by boron rich hydrothermal waters or metasomatism.
