Lepidotes is an extinct genus of primitive way-finned fish that lives during the Meaozoic era, specifically from the early Jurassic to the early Cretaceous. Its name comes from the Greek word “covered with scales” referring to the thick diamond shaped ganoid scales that formed a protective armour over its body.
Lepidotes size was around 30cm and was found both freshwater lakes and shallow costal marine environments.
