The mosasaur is an extinct group of massive,carnivorous aquatic lizards that ruled the world La oceans during the final 20 million years of the late Cretaceous period,from roughly 98-66 million years ago.
Mosasaurs were marine squamates closely related to modern monitor lizards and snakes.
Ranging from small 1 meter coastal species to colossal apex predators like mosasaurus hoffmannii and tylosaurus which stretched up to 17 meters.
They had streamlined body’s with four flipper like limbs, a powerful shark like tail fluke for propulsion,and double hinged jaw capable of swallowing large prey whole.
