Habit- Typically occurs as short prismatic or middle like (acicular) crystals. It frequently forms pseudo-hexagonal structures due to crystal twinning. It can also appear in fibrous,columnar or massive aggregates.

Primary rock types- Mostly found inside sedimentary rocks like limestone,chalk,mark and occasionally inside igneous rocks like carbonatites or altered basalt cavities.
Formation process- it is a low temperature hydrothermal mineral. It precipitates at approximately 109c under low hydrostatic pressure when hot,mineral rich groundwater settles into open rocks cavities,Venus,geodes,or concretions.
