Mineral class: feldspar (aluminosilicates)

Crystal system: sunstone crystallizes in one of two systems depending on the exact host feldspar.
- Triclinic : typical for plagioclase including the famous Oregon sunstone which features native copper flakes
Monoclinic- typical for potassium feldspar like orthoclase.

Rock formation:
Primary host rocks- sunstone generally crystallize deep underground in intrusive or extrusive igneous environments where molten magma cools slowly.
They form in-
*basalt flowes
*Granite and syenite pegmatites
*felsic igneous rocks

Hardness- 6.0-6.5 on the MOHs scale
